Day One (Tokyo)

Arrive at Narita International Airport and transfer to Tokyo Station with an English Speaking Assistant. The English Speaking Assistant will be on the train with you and then take you to the Tokyo Hotel. All your questions and physical tickets for the Bullet Train will be handed to you today. Check in to the hotel and relax.

Day Two (Tokyo)

Meet your Guide at the Hotel Lobby and commence Tokyo Sightseeing by public transportation. Be introduced to Tokyo, by firstly visiting the Tsukiji Fish Market. Taste some fresh seafood at a very reasonable price. You also will see the oldest Temple in Tokyo (Asakusa Temple) and all the arcade shops that line the streets there. A small cruise from Asakusa to the Hamarikyu Gardens is also included.

Day Three (Tokyo)

Today is a full free day at your leisure. I suggest you visit Harajuku, Shibuya, Shinjuku and also Akihabara areas to see the young and modern side of Tokyo. There are many fashionable and sometimes weird places to see while in these locations. Today also allows you to experience the local subways, trains on your own. It is all part of the Experience while in Japan.

Day Four (Tokyo – Izu Peninsula)

Today you will travel from Tokyo to your Izu accommodation by the Odoriko Train. There will be no English Guide with you today but all directions/instructions will be provided. The ODORIKO Train is a direct service from Shinagawa Station to SHUZENJI Station. Then take a Taxi from SHUZENJI Station to your hotel which is approx.. a 7 minute Taxi ride.

Day Five (Izu Peninsula)

Discover this legendary area of Shuzenji and the Asaba accommodation itself. It is said that the great teacher of Japanese Buddhism, Kobo Daishi, bathed every morning in the river Katsura and emerged purified. In a modern way today, you also will be soaked and soothed in not only the Hot Springs baths, but also the highly acclaimed cuisine this ryokan provides. Founded in 1489 and for generation after generation the Asaba Family have inherited this location.

Day Six (Izu Peninsula – Kyoto)

Today, travel from Izu Peninsula to Kyoto. Firstly, the train from Shuzenji to Odawara Station. Odawara Station is a large station and here you will change to the Bullet Train. Once at the Odawara Station, take the Bullet train to KYOTO. Meet with your English Speaking Assistant at the Kyoto Station and take the courtesy Bus to your Hotel. A hotel that only opened in September 2017, enjoy a modern but traditional Japanese accommodation.

Day Seven (Kyoto)

Today you will be escorted to Arashiyama, one of the most visited areas in Kyoto. Arashiyama area is famous for the bamboo garden and Togetskyo Bridge which literally translates to the Bridge that crosses to the Moon. Enter the Unesco World Heritage Site or Tenryuji Temple, and see a perfect Japanese Garden which is the headquarters of the Zen Sect of Buddhism. Not a visit to Kyoto without a visit to The Golden Pavilion also.

Day Eight (Kyoto)

In the morning visit Kiyomizu Temple. Currently under an 11 year repair cycle after a 400 year stance with no repairs. It is quite unique to see a World Heritage Site under repairs as this will not be done again within our lifetimes. After visiting Kiyomizu Temple and the surrounding traditional streets, try your hand at dyeing some cloth in the traditional Kyoto way.

Day Nine (Kyoto – Tokyo Airport)

Transfer on the Bullet Train to Tokyo Station. At Tokyo Station there will be an English Speaking Assistant waiting for you. Change trains from the Bullet train to the Narita Express Rapid Train (Pre-booked seats). The English Assistant will be with you until you check in at Narita International Airport. It is sad but you then will depart Japan bound for home.
