Using Scott at Experience Japan Travel to plan our 1 week honeymoon in Japan was one of the best decisions we made! Our trip started off with a 5 hour flight deay from Canada which meant that we had missed the last train out from Tokyo to Kyoto. Before we had even landed, Scott had rearranged our hotels and trains, at no additional cost, and had totally taken care of it! There was zero stress. He even took the time out of his busy schedule to meet up with us in Kyoto on 2 occasions, and even bought us a celebratory honeymoon drink! He personalized our experience and there wasn't one thing we would have changed about our itinerary. It was a perfect mix of adventure, culture and a bit of honeymoon romance. It was seriously fantastic and it was the perfect way to see and experience the country. The English speaking guides he set us up with were also phenomental and really made the trip. We have absolutely no hesistation about recommending anyone to go with Scott. He is really good at what he does - 10/10! We can't wait to go back and see more of Japan. We loved staying in a traditional style ryokan in a hot springs village. It was a great way to live the culture. The only thing we would do different is "Stay longer!"... READ MORE

"Experience Japan Travel", that is the name of the company that created our Japan trip, and what wonderful "experience" it was. Scott Kent, was exordinary in hi ability to help plan a wonderful and effortless family vacation in the 9 days we had to travel. He worked closley with me to get a clear understanding of what we were looking to see and do and made me feel like I was his only client. Planning a great trip is only part of the equation. He and the company are based in Japan, his currant knowledge of what is happening in the country was invaluable. Desired adjustments and changes to the itinerary (do to weather for example) were made effortlessly. This also included finding a doctor for my daughter. Within 30 minutes of the request, we were in a specialists office with Scott standing by to interpret as needed. Its the kind of thing one can't anticpate in advance but Scott was able to make it happen without stress. Thank you for that Scott. Our Teen age kids really enjoyed this trip, here are thier comments; "Scott tailored the trip and our activities to our families interests. He was able to give great insight to what its like to be a kid growing up in Japan. (the educational system was an incredible eye opener!) He also made everyone feel like they were being shown around in Japan "by a friend". An amazing experience we will never forget." It was a trip that exceded all of our expectations, and for that we are are very grateful to Scott and Experience Japan Travel. Loved Tokyo, and all of the diverse areas. Our guide in Tokyo was so knowledgable and fun to be with. In addition to seeing the sights, we had many conversations about Japanese culture and life style, past and present. Got a great sence of what life was like there. Had the best sushi we have ever eaten at wonderfull and intimate sushi restarant. On the way to Kyoto we were able to stop in Hakone to visit the "Open Air Sculpture Museum" defiantly a highlight of the trip. In Kyoto, we saw all the "must see " sights, The Bamboo forest, The Ryoanji Temple and stone garden, and the Golden Pavillion. All beautiful and very worth while. We went ceramic shopping and Scott was able to find us the most interesting shops as well as help with purchases. I would say our private visit to a Buddist Temple was the unexpected highlight of the trip. Magical, and life altering. We were all so touched by this special visit that Scott was able to arrange The only change would be to have more time. There is so much to see, so much to experience (theres that word again). We just left wanting more. Perhaps the next time, we would go in a differnt season.... READ MORE

Scott Kent, our travel advisor for our Japan trip, made this trip so enjoyable and memorable! From the very beginning stages of our planning to the very last da's request for dinner suggestions, his attention to detail and concern for our whole family (15 of us) was so very professional and always timely. Our family was very impressed with the "luxiourious" accomodations/experiences/settings. We loved experiencing a Japanese baseball game, from cheers and chants while the opposing pitcher threw the pitches, to the beer girls smiling and selling beer from a keg on their backs to the yellow balloon release during the 6th inning. And a very special, surprising treat, a huge Welcome to the family sign during the game!! Other fun experiences loved by our family: taiko drumming bento box cooking lesson at the Cooking Sun geisha spotting in the Gion district taking pictures at the Fushimi Shrine visiting Nara and feeding the deer hiking around the Golden Pavilion eating green tea ice cream every day! enjoying Japan's natural beauty, the lush green mountains, rice fields and bamboo forests tasting sake shopping at the huge anime stores gorgeous morning views of Mt. Fuji Hakone Open Air Museum slurping ramon noodes visiting the Imperial Gardens... READ MORE

Fabulous trip! Experience Japan Travel (EJT) put together a very thoughtful 17 day itinerary for my wife and me. It was our first trip to the country and we waned to see temples, shrines and do some hiking. Scott at EJT arranged a trip that focused mainly on Kyoto and outskirts but included time in Hakone, Ugi, and Kanazawa.  He blended: a) stays in three traditional inns with time in conventional hotels, b) several days with personal guides with days by ourselves, and c) days that were very planned and full with ones that were more open. We're not used to using a travel company for our vacations-- prefer to make our own plans--but the trip EJT arranged for us resulted in our experiencing much more of Japan than we would have on our own, and was well worth the money. Every detail was thoughtfully arranged. For example, when Scott made hotel and restaurant reservations, we had great views, were seated next to the falls, overlooking the river, etc. We'd highly recommend EJT to anyone going to Japan.  What were the most enjoyable or memorable parts of your trip?  --Hiking the river below Takao northwest of Kyoto (with Scott, our agent, who suggested we meet in person and spent most of a day with us) -- taking a trip by boat down the Hoza--gawa River outside of Kyoto  --a whole day walking tour of Kanazawa with a lifelong native  -- discovering lots of friendly, informal restaurants for lunch and dinner -- experiencing several traditional Japanese inns that Scott arranged for us... Scott and Experience Japan Travel planned the perfect trip for us. We decided to go to Japan for our honeymoon and thanks to Scott, I am confident that we made he right decision. We had a brief conversation with him initially and told him our interests and things and places that we would like to do and see, and he quickly developed an incredible itinerary that was EXACTLY what we wanted. We were only in Japan for 10 days, but we experienced SO MUCH! We had never been to Japan before, but were able to do so many things that we had envisioned ahead of time and so much more that we didn't even know about. From the gorgeous hotel accommodations and delicious food, to the breath-taking sight seeing and culture, this was truly a mind blowing vacation. Scott and his friend/coworker, Nao, even met up with us in Kyoto and showed us an incredible time. While in Tokyo, we had the rare opportunity to experience the Sanja Festival in Asakusa. The energy and enthusiasm of the crowd was absolutely intoxicating. The second we came out of the subway station, the streets were packed with people, shops, and food. The temple and shrines were beautiful, and the festival had these portable shrines and floats (I guess you would call them parade floats) that tons of people were carrying or pulling. Definitely a once in a lifetime experience! Nara was incredible. Not only are there thousands of deer that you can walk and mingle with (and feed!), the area is wonderfully spiritual. There were so many temples and shrines. Each one was so unique and so pretty. Arashiyama. MONKEYS!!!! Nowhere else have I ever been able to have so many monkeys just wandering around so close to me without a care in the world! We even got to feed them. They take the food right out of your hands! And the baby monkeys were freaking adorable! Drinking/Dining in Kyoto. The day that Scott and Nao met up with us was really cool. Scott took us to a whiskey distillery and beer brewery and Nao joined for sake and food/drinks after that. They took us to the Fushimi Inari Shrine (which was SO beautiful) and then to some local places after that. The local places I am sure we would never have had the opportunity to experience if it hadn't been for them. There was so much more that I want to share, but seriously, go see for yourselves! From the bottoms of our hearts, thank you guys! Best.... READ MORE

Very well organised with very good, experienced advice on what to do and see. The trip was tailored to our needs and time frame - which worked really well for u and gave us maximum value for our time in Japan. Other than the beauty of Japan and the great food, our guide Ako was great and Scott (our main Japan Travel contact) took the time to hike with us up Mt Atago which was very good of him. The weather was perfect and the crowds were few, we had both of our two days at Lake Kawaguchi where Mt Fuji was cloud free! The Cherry Blossom season was late so we also unexpectedly got to enjoy the benefits without the crowds.... READ MORE

The service provided by Scott and his team was fantastic. The attention to detail and level of responsiveness was fantastic. We managed to see beautiful off thebeaten path parts of Japan thanks to Scott. It was definitely one of the best trips we have been on as a family. In Kyoto, Scott took us to a place out of town and shared with us a temple that wasn't open to tourists. This was magical. We also got to go to the Studio Ghibli museum which my children loved. Seeing cherry blossoms was also a highlight. I would spend longer in Japan, there is so much to see and our time there was too short!... READ MORE

Our personal point man for Experience Japan Travel was Scott Kent, the right person for establishing good rapport from initial planning to travels' end. It wascompletely evident that he cares deeply about his clients, a terrific reflection not only on himself, but also on his company. Detailed planning and many 'extras' came from the heart, including spending trip time with him and his young daughter. We came together as strangers coming to a strange land and parted friends with much in common. Such is the essence of great travels! Especially because we were traveling with our 12-year-old granddaughter who has been immersed in Japanese as a second language since kindergarten, this was an extra special trip for us. She put her language skill to work and proved most helpful! She is an engaged young lady, so visiting sights that entailed new experiences and learning more about the culture was notably meaningful. The hands-on washi paper-making experience was surely one of the highlights as well as seeing the mountain area itself that included the thatched-roof community of Shirakawago and Gokayama where the paper is made. One of our granddaughter's goals was to ride a bullet train and that we did. Seeing the masses navigate the gigantic train stations was an experience in itself! Of course, we knew going in that the Japanese diet is very foreign to our own. We were the best sports we could be, with our granddaughter leading the way as already somewhat adjusted to the menu choices. We loved seeing and (usually) tasting the strange sea life that regularly finds it way into Japanese homes and restaurants. To sum it up... Japan: If it's in the sea, it's on the table! Memorable for sure.... READ MORE

The trip was very well organized and a great introduction to Japanese culture as well as local living by getting exposure to modes of public transportation. We ere able to gain knowledge that gave us independence and a thorough appreciation of the subtleties of the culture. The guides were very helpful, although we didn't get to learn more of the language from them directly. We were VERY well fed and given hospitality everywhere we went, including the shops! Scott Kent planned everything out and organized everything in advance to make this a pretty smooth experience overall. Looking forward to coming back for more!... READ MORE
