Due to the problem of over tourism on Mt. Fuji during climbing season,
starting to affect the safety of the climbing visitors,
The Council for the Promotion of the Proper Use of Mt. Fuji has introduced some restrictions,
1. Climbing at night will only be permitted for visitors with a reservation
at one of the mountain huts.
→ The restrictions will be in effect from 4:00 p.m. to 3:00 a.m. the next day.
→ Restrictions will be imposed when the number of climbers exceed
4,000 people per day.
2. Climbers who pass through the gate at the fifth station will pay a fee
of 2,000 yen per person.
→ There will be a new gate restricting the entrance to the Yoshida trail.
They also advise to climb only with the guidance of an experienced
mountain guide, in order to prevent accidents.
