Day One – Arrive into Tokyo

Lined up with New York, London and Paris, you will arrive into Tokyo, one of the largest Cities in the World. Spend your first few nights in one of the leading technological locations of the World.
Have an
English Speaking Assistant meet you at the airport and escort you to your accommodation using a
Private Vehicle. Arrive at your accommodation and use the rest of the day to walk the local area and become used to the time difference. Tomorrow will be the start of a new adventure in your travel history.

Day Two – Tokyo Sightseeing
Full Day Tokyo Sightseeing
Today you will be introduced to Tokyo the largest City in Japan with an English Speaking Guide
and using the Public Transportation for a Full Day. Start the day with a walk in the Outer Markets of Tsukiji, the largest Fish Market in the World. A chance to nibble on some of the freshest seafood possible. Continue on to Tokyo’s oldest Temple, the Asakusa Temple along with all the shops that line the main path to the Temple. Also visit the Tokyo Sky Tree and be treated to panorama views from the Tembo Galleria and Tembo Deck. On a fine day, Mt Fuji can be seen extremely clearly.
You may like to finish the day with a little piece of art at the Sumida Hokusai Museum, a chance to see some of the famous woodblock prints.

Day Three – Free at Leisure
Exploration Awaits
Today can be a day free at leisure to explore Tokyo’s mighty skyline by yourselves. (The Guide from yesterday will advise directions).
It may be great to start the day with a walk around the Tokyo Imperial Palace Gardens.
Also be overwhelmed with a visit to the younger generation areas such as Harajuku and Takeshita Street. This is where trends are created. Next to the Harajuku Station is also the entrance to the important and most visit shrine
in Tokyo, the Meiji Shrine. Consider visiting Shibuya for the famous scrambled crossing which has 2000 people crossing it each time the lights change. However, if you prefer a little education or art, Tokyo’s museums and art galleries
are some of the best in the World. The Nezu Museum is in the Aoyama area and offers not only amazing art, but has a near perfect Japanese Garden. Ueno Park also offers The Tokyo National Museum and more.

day 4 – TOKYO TO KANAZAWA
Board the sleek and smooth Bullet Train
Meet an English Speaking Assistant
at the Hotel Lobby and transfer to Tokyo Station. Board the Shinkansen (Bullet) Train bound for Kanazawa City. After arrival into Kanazawa you can transfer to your Hotel by own. (All directions will be provided). After you have checked in to your accommodation, the rest of the day can be free at leisure. Take a short and casual stroll to the Oumi-cho Markets of Kanazawa. Located centrally, the markets offer some of the freshest Seafood and produce possible. After all the Sea of Japan is close by. You may like to have a late lunch / early dinner at the market area.

Day five – kanazawa Sightseeing
The Secrets of Kanazawa
Meet an English Speaking Guide at the Hotel Lobby and by using the Public Transportation see the secrets of Kanazawa. Visit the old Geisha area of Higashi Chayagai. This is where the Geisha and Samurai used to walk a few hundred years ago. The well preserved Tea Houses and cobble stoned alleys are a picture in the waiting. Also visit the Kenrokuen Gardens which is one of the 3 most beautiful gardens in all of Japan. Next to the Gardens is the Kanazawa Castle. Also see the Nomura Household which has been in the same Family for some 400 years. A lot of tradition is found in Kanazawa, and you may be interested in the Kutani Brand of ceramics or even the Noh Theatre mask museum.

Day six – Free at Leisure
Stumble upon something different
Today can be a day free at leisure to explore Kanazawa yourselves. (The Guide from yesterday will advise directions).
Kanazawa is very much walkable or by using the local buses and taxis you can be in most places within 15-20 minutes. Why not walk the streets and see if you stumble upon some more of Kanazawa’s secrets.
Highly recommended is the 21st Century Museum of Contemporary Art which is a must for art lovers and only minutes walk from the Oumi-cho markets. The museum has a mission to generate new culture and revitalize the community
through art.
The DT Suzuki Museum which really isn’t a museum is one of the best kept secrets of Kanazawa. The museum tells the story of the founder who was a Zen preacher and also a great architectural designer.
The Ishikawa Prefectural Library was established in 1879 with now over 30,000 books from the Maeda Family collection.

day seven – KANAZAWA to kaga onsen

Today can be a day at leisure, where you can casually wake up and just use the Hotel facilities for some wind down time. Please talk to your Hotel Staff for possible outings, however one of our favorites is a Temple located in the
depths of true Japanese nature. A headquarters of the Soto sect of Buddhism, you can even experience and very spiritual Zen session.
Or you can simply walk the Hot Springs village to see all the local arts and crafts. For those challenging people, you may like to use the communal baths in the hear of the town’s main street.

day 9 – kaga onsen to kyoto
Enter the Cultural Capitol of Japan
Transfer from Kaga Onsen Village on the Shinkansen (Bullet) Train
and Thunderbird Rapid Train to Kyoto, the Cultural Capitol of Japan. Meet an English Speaking Guide at t
he Kyoto Station and make the most of your time by visiting one or two locations to introduce you to Kyoto by using the
Public Transportation. Visit the oldest Temple and gateway to Kyoto. It has been in the same location for over 1200 years. This temple is an art form in itself with the largest 5 storied pagoda in all of Japan. The Buddha statues you see in the 2 halls also date back some 1200 years. Listen to the Guide’s interesting stories of this temple which have cultivated Kyoto over the years. Before you arrive at your accommodation walk the Nishiki Market area to see the markets that have sustained the Kyoto people for over 400 years.

Day ten – Kyoto Sightseeing

Meet an English Speaking Guide at the Hotel Lobby and once again use the the Public Transportation. Today you can visit some of the must see areas of Kyoto. Start the day at the popular Arashiyama area, this is where the famous Bamboo Grove is located. Take a walk through the bamboo area which will lead you to another area with streets lined with thatched roof houses. Also visit the Golden Pavilion which is one of the 17 World Heritage Unesco locations in Kyoto. The Golden Pavilion is a World Heritage but not a Japanese National Treasure. Listen to the reason why, and also see what the Golden Age of Japan created. This is Japan’s version of Camp David and was built by one of the most famous Shogun Families of Japan. Continue to a near by Temple complex made up of approx. 20 sub temples. This will be away from the crowds and you can soothe your mind and soul by looking at a Zen stone garden. Here you can enjoy a quick Matcha Green Tea break. You will be glad you came here, and if you like Bonsai trees, there is a great new addition close by.

Day eleven – Kyoto Sightseeing

Meet with your English Speaking Guide at the Hotel Lobby and commence Full Day sightseeing by special transfers. Visit the Uji area, which was the first location in Japan to grow and produce Japanese tea. Everything and anything can be found in Matcha Tea style here. Experience and authentic exclusive Tea Ceremony which will allow you to understand the etiquette and importance. This is at a family run location that has been operating for 450 years. Uji also holds one of the most beautiful Temples of Japan, Byodoin Temple, which actually represents the Pure World. The garden is simple but spectacular. Transfer back to central Kyoto and be introduced to the wonders of the fabric industry. Visit a family operated company that still makes the Obi belts for the Kimono by hand, and out of silk. Listen to the process of making such a delicate item and also feel free to ask questions. Continue on to a 2 other locations that will show you modern and detailed fabric. One of the locations has approx. 6 stores in Kyoto. The owner’s were textile designer and an architect. Together they made Kyoto fabric turn into amazing tabi socks. From socks they extended to clothes, shoes and so much more. Even just buying the fabric is a status in Kyoto. The other location, is a fashionable Kyoto company with several stores through out the country. The fabric and textiles they use are extremely popular as the company is very particular about the thread (yarn) they use. The items they sell are popular with the more sophisticated and higher age group. Even their Jeans are so detailed and can sell for approx. US$500.00.

Day twelve – full day at leisure
Right up to the Last Minute
Full Free Day at Kyoto at leisure. There is just so much more to see and experience. Depending on your interests you may like to visit more Temples, Shrines and Pavilions. You have already seen the Golden Pavilion so why not compare
it to the Silver Pavilion, the home of Wabisabi. Or you may like to walk the Kyoto Imperial Palace grounds which hold the old residence of the Emperor and also the tranquil gardens. The Kiyomizu Temple is a must see and if architecture
is of interest, this Temple has to be seen as it is on the built on the side of a hill and uses not one single nail in it’s creation. The Kiyomizu Temple will take you through the traditional alleys of Ninenzaka and Sannenzaka and
on to the Gion area which is where the Geiko and Maiko still walk to and from tea houses today.
Or if you just wanted to relax and be introduced to a popular and high quality Ramen Noodle store which needs to be pre booked, this would be the perfect way to finish a Kyoto stay.
Or if you wanted to continue the hands on experiences, a “flower arrangement” experience called Ikebana could be pre booked for you. Like the Tea Ceremony, enjoy the importance of the flower arrangement, which actually started in
the Temples when offering flowers to the Gods.

Day thirteen – From Kyoto to Tokyo and on to the Airport
Take your hundreds of memories back home
Check out of your Kyoto Hotel and proceed to the Kyoto Station with an English Speaking Assistant . You can board a mid morning Shinkansen (Bullet) Train bound for Tokyo. After arriving in Tokyo meet with your English Speaking Assistant who will take you to Narita (NRT) or Haneda (HND) Airport depending on your departure flight. Arrive at Narita (NRT) or Haneda (HND) Airport and taking your many hundreds of new memories and hundreds of photos, proceed to the Check in counter to prepare for your homebound flight.
