Arrive into the Gateway of Japan, the Modern Metropolis of Tokyo City. From Tokyo transfer to the natural Hot Springs area of Hakone. After relaxing in the Hot Springs bath and possible views of Mt Fuji over 2 days, visit the cultural capitol of Kyoto. The final destination can be Kanazawa for some of the freshest seafood ever. A tour at a relaxed pace but still covering the essentials.

Day One – Arrive into Tokyo

Day Two – Tokyo Sightseeing

Full Day Tokyo Sightseeing

Today you will be introduced to Tokyo the largest City in Japan with an English Speaking Guide   and using the Public Transportation  for a Full Day. Start the day with a walk in the Outer Markets of Tsukiji, the largest Fish Market in the World. A chance to nibble on some of the freshest seafood possible. Continue on to Tokyo’s oldest Temple, the Asakusa Temple along with all the shops that line the main path to the Temple. Also visit the Tokyo Sky Tree and be treated to panorama views from the Tembo Galleria and Tembo Deck. On a fine day, Mt Fuji can be seen extremely clearly.
You may like to finish the day with a little piece of art at the Sumida Hokusai Museum, a chance to see some of the famous woodblock prints.

Day Three – Free at Leisure

Today can be a day free at leisure to explore what is basically the largest City in the World by yourselves. (Sounds daunting, but the Guide from yesterday will advise directions).     It may be great to start the day with a walk around the Tokyo Imperial Palace Gardens. Also be overwhelmed with a visit to the younger generation areas such as Harajuku and Takeshita Street. This is where trends are created, and it will definitely open any sleepy eyes. Next to the Harajuku Station is also the entrance to the important and most visit shrine in Tokyo, the Meiji Shrine. Consider visiting Shibuya for the famous scrambled crossing which has 2000 people crossing it each time the lights change. You may like to book a time at the TeamLab art experience of finish the day in Akihabara. Akihabara is Japan’s electric town and also the epicenter of Otaku Culture, Anime and offbeats cafes like the maid cafes and animal cafes.

Day four – Free at Leisure

Always Evolving, Never Still

Today is another free day to explore and immerse yourself in modern Japan.  
Visit the more mature areas of Aoyama and Daikanyama. This is where you can shop in style and also enjoy the immaculate streets. Compared to its neighboring trend-setting districts, this area is more sophisticated and appeals to a mature crowd. Here, you’ll find high-end brands and unique boutiques and spot fashionably dressed people. You also can have time in the Ginza Area to continue your shopping, and it is Ginza that can find the brand stores along with one of the oldest and most respectful Department Stores in Japan. You may like to enter the Mikimoto Pearl shop. The building’s design is amazing and the pearl prices are much less than in other countries. 
If you prefer a little education or art, Tokyo’s museums and art galleries are some of the best in the World. The Nezu Museum is in the Aoyama area and offers not only amazing art, but has a near perfect Japanese Garden. Ueno Park also offers The Tokyo National Museum and more.

day five – transfer to hakone

With your English Speaking Guide   transfer from Tokyo to Hakone by the Shinkansen (Bullet) Train  and enjoy Hakone Sightseeing including the geo-thermal area of Owakudani, Lake Ashi and use the Ropeway and Pirate Ship cruise to get there. From many angles see Mt Fuji and finish the day with the powerful Hakone Shrine. If you have an interest in art, the Open Air Museum close to the Gora Park must be visited. Arrive at your accommodation which will have a private hot springs bath in your room and dinner will be included as a Kaiseki Traditional meal. Day six – Free at Leisure

Explore Hakone on your own. In any season the GORA Park will be spectacular. Opened in 1914, Hakone Gora Park is a tourist spot which allows visitors to spend the day enjoying cherry blossoms, azaleas, hydrangeas, autumn foliage and more. Many activities and experiences also can be enjoyed here such as glass blowing, Kiriko engraving and even ceramics. 
.If you wanted a nature walk, Hakone can be the place. Walk through peaceful nature with stunning views of the area and of Mt Fuji once you head towards Lake Ashi. We at Experience Japan Travel can advise directions and instructions on the nature walks prior to your arrival.

day 7 – from hakone to kyoto

Transfer from your Hakone Accommodation to Odawara Train station and then board your Shinkansen (Bullet Train) bound for Kyoto Station. Meet with your English Speaking Guide   at the Hotel Lobby and commence another day of Kyoto Sightseeing by Public Transportation . Start the by visiting the very popular, Kiyomizu Temple located on an elevated hill that looks over Kyoto. This Temple does not use 1 single nail in its creation, an amazing example of architecture. Approx. 40000 people each day come here.
Walk through the Traditional GION area which is where the Geisha still work today and board a local train to the Fushimi area. You next stop can be THE most visited Shrine in all of Japan, The Fushimi Inari Shrine. Be taken back by all the thousands of bright red Torii gates, which also is the headquarters for all 30000 Inari Shrines of Japan. The foxes are the messengers of this Shrine.  You can return to central Kyoto with your Guide and be escorted to a special dinner in a special location.

This is where you can walk the famous Bamboo Forest and walk over the Togetsukyo, or bridge to the moon. Continue on to the World Heritage location of, the Golden Pavilion. day eleven – free day at leisure 

Right up to the Last Minute

Full Free Day at Kyoto at leisure. There is just so much more to see and experience. Depending on your interests you may like to visit more Temples, Shrines and Pavilions. You have already seen the Golden Pavilion so why not compare it to the Silver Pavilion, the home of Wabisabi. Or you may like to walk the Kyoto Imperial Palace grounds which hold the old residence of the Emperor and also the tranquil gardens. The Nijo Castle really shouldn’t be missed as this is where the last Samurai resided and where the 15th Generation Shogunate gave the power back to the Emperor. 
Or if you just wanted to relax and be introduced to a popular and high quality Ramen Noodle store which needs to be pre booked, this would be the perfect way to finish a Kyoto stay.
Or if you wanted to continue the hands on experiences, a “flower arrangement” experience called Ikebana could be pre booked for you. Like the Tea Ceremony, enjoy the importance of the flower arrangement, which actually started in the Temples when offering flowers to the Gods.

Take the day to visit Nara to see the largest Buddha Statue in the World which is at the Todaiji Temple. day twelve – kyoto TO KANAZAWA

Samurai city with top‑tier gardens and crafts

Transfer from Kyoto to Kanazawa City located in Ishikawa prefecture, on the coast of the Sea of Japan. You will take the Thunderbird Rapid train and will be viewing the largest Lake in Japan, Lake Biwa on the way. You will change on to the newly opened Bullet Train at Tsuruga Station which will take you to Kanazawa. Upon arrival you can leisurely walk to your hotel and Check in. After check in you may like to walk to nearby open markets of Oumicho Markets, as Kanazawa has some of the freshest seafood and vegetables you can find in all of Japan. If you like Japanese Cuisine, especially Seafood I highly recommend you try some during your stay in Kanazawa.

Day thirteen – kanazawa Sightseeing

A walkable old town with gardens, geisha districts, and amazing seafood

Meet your English Speaking Guide  and enjoy Kanazawa Sightseeing. Kanazawa is not like the other destinations you have visited. A Visit to the Kenroku Gardens will be first on the list and is one of the 3 most beautiful gardens in Japan. Right next door are the Kanazawa Castle grounds. Move onto the Higashichagaiya with it’s beautiful cobblestoned roads. This is where the Samurai and Geisha mixed in the many Tea Rooms that you can still see. At Higashichayagai you can also see how the gold flake industry is important to Kanazawa and why they have 90% of the share for gold flake production. Transfer to the Nagamachi area and visit the Nomura House which still belongs to the Nomura Samurai Family. See how the influential Samurai lived some 400 years ago.

Day fourteen – Free at Leisure

Stumble upon something different

Today can be a day free at leisure to explore Kanazawa yourselves. (The Guide from yesterday will advise directions). 
Kanazawa is very much walkable or by using the local buses and taxis you can be in most places within 15-20 minutes. Why not walk the streets and see if you stumble upon some more of Kanazawa’s secrets. 
Highly recommended is the 21st Century Museum of Contemporary Art which is a must for art lovers and only minutes walk from the Oumi-cho markets. The museum has a mission to generate new culture and revitalize the community through art. 
The DT Suzuki Museum which really isn’t a museum is one of the best kept secrets of Kanazawa. The museum tells the story of the founder who was a Zen preacher and also a great architectural designer.  
The Ishikawa Prefectural Library was established in 1879 with now over 30,000 books from the Maeda Family collection.

Day fifteen – From Kanazawa to Tokyo and on to the Airport

Let the memories travel with you

Check out of your Kanazawa Hotel and proceed to the Kanazawa Station by youselves. You can board a morning  Shinkansen (Bullet) Train bound for Tokyo. After arriving in Tokyo meet with your  English Speaking Assistant  who will take you to Narita (NRT) or Haneda (HND) Airport depending on your departure flight. Arrive at Narita (NRT) or Haneda (HND) Airport and taking your many hundreds of new memories and hundreds of photos, proceed to the Check in counter to prepare for your homebound flight.
