Day One – arrive into narita airport

With your Private English Speaking Guide , Start your day with a stroll through the outer fish markets of Tsukiji, the largest Fish Market in the World. Visit Sensoji Temple in Asakusa. and enjoy the Nakamise stores that line the Streets. Asakusa Temple is the oldest and most romantic Temple in Tokyo. You will definitely need to visit the Hokusai Art Gallery. Katsushika Hokusai, a world-renowned ukiyo-e artist (woodblock prints) was born in the Sumida area. See some of his original Ukiyoe paintings and his sketch books. Close by is the Skytree Tower of Tokyo which can be seen before you return to your hotel.

Day Three – Free at Leisure
Exploration Awaits
Today can be a day free at leisure to explore Tokyo’s mighty skyline by yourselves. (The Guide from yesterday will advise directions). It may be great to have you visit the younger generation areas such as Harajuku and Takeshita Street. This is where trends are created. Next to the Harajuku Station is also the entrance to the important and most visit shrine in Tokyo, the Meiji Shrine. This area should really be seen by anyone who comes to Tokyo. Also visit Shibuya for the famous scrambled crossing which has 2000 people crossing it each time the lights change. Also maybe visit Akihabara area for the electronics as well as anime / and sometimes weird sub cultural areas. You also may like to see the sophisticated Aoyama area and the high class shopping district of Ginza.

Day Four – Transfer from Tokyo to Nikko, Tochigi Prefecture
From Skyscrapers to Mother Nature
Meet your English Speaking Guide at the Hotel Lobby and take a rapid train from Tokyo to Nikko, located in Tochigi prefecture. The most noteworthy of Nikko’s religious buildings is Toshogu, where Tokugawa Ieyasu was enshrined after his death in 1616. Within the premises you will also see the 3 monkeys, “See no Evil, hear no Evil and Speak no Evil”. Also visit very natural locations of Nikko, such as the Kegon Falls. Cascading from Lake Chuzenji at a height of 97 meters, Kegon Falls is ranked among Japan’s three most beautiful waterfalls. Visit the shores of Lake Chuzenji (Not Include Boat ride) and then take a Private Vehicle to Nasu National Park area for your luxury Ryokan experience.

Day Five – Full day of Hiking at Nasu National Park
Bond with Mother Nature and see how water is important to this destination
Meet your Hiking Guide at the Hotel Lobby and take a private vehicle or Taxi to Mt Nasu. Today you use the ropeway or hike one of the several Hiking courses depending on your experience and energy. You may well be the only Overseas People at the popular Mt Nasu. A great way to forget the hustle and bustle of the Cities and be down to earth with the fauna and flora of this alpine location. Take a picnic lunch with you, and before you return to your accommodation you may like to make a stop at the “hot” hot springs of Shika-no-yu.

Day Six – Nasu National Park to Tokyo

Day Seven – From Tokyo to Kyoto
Board the Sleek Shinakansen (Bullet Train) bound for Kyoto
Transfer from Tokyo Station to Kyoto on the Shinkansen (Bullet Train). After arrival, meet your English Speaking Guide and make the most of your time and enjoy an introduction to Kyoto by visiting THE most visited Shrine in all of Japan, The Fushimi Inari Shrine. Be taken back by all the thousands of bright red Torii gates, which also is the headquarters for all 30000 Inari Shrines of Japan. The foxes are the messengers of this Shrine. Close by is a chance to experience Japanese Sake. Explore the historic Fushimi Sake District for a tour and sake tasting at a renowned brewery. Before your arrival at your hotel, see the Nishiki Markets which have been the Kitchen for Kyoto people for over 400 years.

Day Eight – Kyoto Sightseeing

Today, with an English Speaking Guide , visit Arashiyama district. With the Katsura River flowing through Arashiyama, you can visit the very famous Bamboo Grove with many people, but then also walk to a Bamboo Grove that is only known to people you live here, and very few people. See Togetsukyo (Bridge to the Moon) as well as going to a Zen Temple with a Stone garden. This Zen garden is a location not widely known by Kyoto people but in the past David Bowie came here and cried over the beauty. You can see the Golden Pavilion which is one of the 17 World Heritage Unesco locations in Kyoto. The Golden Pavilion is a World Heritage but not a Japanese National Treasure. Listen to the reason why and also see what the Golden Age of Japan created. The Camp David of Japan.

Day Nine – Kyoto Sightseeing

Today with your English Speaking Guide , visit the Uji area, which was the first location in Japan to grow and produce Japanese tea. Everything and anything can be found in Matcha Tea style here. Experience and authentic Tea Ceremony which will allow to understand the etiquette and importance. This is with a Family that were asked to make Uji Tea a brand in 1592. Uji also holds one of the most beautiful Temples of Japan, Byodoin Temple, which represents the Pure World. The garden is simple but spectacular. Return to Central Kyoto and in the afternoon experience and hands on experience of a Traditional Kyoto Japanese Craft. You can consider one of the following which all are authentic and only taught by professional artists based in Kyoto (other options are available also).
1. Kintsugi Repair -using Japanese lacquer and Gold flakes to repair cracks and broken areas of ceramics.

Day Ten – Free Day at Leisure
The Day is yours, to Explore Kyoto
Enjoy a free day at leisure. All directions will be advised prior, but it would be highly recommended to visit such locations as, the Nijo Castle which was the location all the major decisions were made from 1603 to 1868 when Kyoto was the Capitol of Japan. Also, as you have seen the Golden Pavilion on a previous day, the Silver Pavilion maybe of interest. The impressive Sanjusangendo Temple with 1001 life sized Buddha Statues is always one of our favorites and so inspiring. If you want to go to the mountain area of Kyoto to see a World Heritage Temple where you may be the only people there, this is possible too. Not to mention the shopping in the central Shikyokgoku and Teramachi arcades.
If you prefer to be a little more active, you may like to join an exclusive Bike tour around areas of Kyoto that are not usually visited by Overseas Visitors (with a Private Guide). Along the way enjoy several stops at local shops and even taste some of Kyoto’s popular sweets.
OR, Nara city is also only 1 hour away and very easy to access to see the largest Buddha Statue in Japan and also all the 1300+ deer at 1400 acre Nara Park.

Day Eleven – From Kyoto to Tokyo and on to the Airport
Take your memories home
Check out of your Kyoto Hotel and proceed to the Kyoto Station with an English Speaking Assistant . You can board a mid morning Bullet Train bound for Tokyo. After arriving in Tokyo meet with your English Speaking Assistant who will take you to Narita (NRT) or Haneda (HND) Airport depending on your flights. Arrive at Narita (NRT) or Haneda (HND) Airport and taking your many hundreds of new memories and hundreds of photos, proceed to the Check in counter to prepare for your homebound flight.
